Habring² Doppel 3 Reviewed - Monochrome Watches

Today we're going to review a very special watch. It is a double chronograph, with a single-pusher chronograph function and an additional pusher for the split-seconds function. This alone sounds interesting, however if you consider that the watch is made by Habring², and also consider that Richard Habring played a major role in developing IWC's Doppelchrono, the importance of the Habring² Doppel 3 might become evident. It was evident enough for the jury of the prestigious Grand Prix de Horlogerie de Genève, to award its predecessor with the Sports Watch Prize in 2012.

New IWC Ingenieur Collection - Pre-SIHH 2013 - Monochrome Watches

While it's more then 1,5 month to go to the SIHH 2013, new models are being released almost daily. And so does IWC... however they don't simply introduce a new model, no, they complete revamp an entire collection, like they did last year with the Pilot's Collection. This year it's the Ingenieur Collection and the best news is the (re-)introduction of the new Ingenieur Automatic. A self-winding, 40 mm stainless steel homage to the original Ingenieur designed by Gerald Genta in 1977. Not only does it have killer looks, it also herald a return to the true functional integrity of the Ingenieur; being able to withstand magnetic fields up to 40,000 A/m.

Vacheron Constantin Introduces the World's Thinnest Minute Repeater caliber and Thinnest Minute Repeater Watch - Monochrome Watches

Vacheron Constantin sets two records with the introduction of the Patrimony Contemporaine Ultra-Thin Calibre 1731. It is the world's thinnest minute repeater movement and the world's thinnest minute repeater wrist watch. This new ultra-thin chiming watch measures just 8.09 mm in height and its movement is just a mere 3.90 mm in height. Even leaving the "world records" out of the equation, what Vacheron accomplishes here is simply magnificent. Striking complications are usually seen as the most difficult of all complications, especially when integrating it in an ultra-thin movement.

Breva Genie 01 - Wrist Size Weather Station - Monochrome Watches

A weather station for the wrist, no kidding. The Breva Génie 01 is the world’s first wristwatch with an altimeter and barometer, for forecasting the weather. Oh yes, of course does it tells time as well and there's a power reserve indicator to tell you how much power is left in the main spring, as it has a fully mechanical movement. On the dial there are easy-to-read indications to keep the wearer fully informed about current time, altitude, remaining power in the mainspring, and a weather forecasting barometer. Before leaving the house, just check your Breva Génie 01, to know if you should bring your umbrella or leave it at home.

Why the Patek Philippe 5170G Chronograph is such a cool watch - Review with live photos & price - Monochrome Watches

When you think Chronograph (voluntarily with a huge C), you probably have in mind Daytona, Speedmaster, racing cars, space exploration, timing sports competition... In other words, you think sports watches. However, chronograph watches can be elegant, small, restrained and wearable with a suit - and here I mean that there are chronographs intended to be worn like that, not sporty chronographs that you decide to wear with a suit (and there's nothing wrong in wearing a Speedy with a suit). In the category of dress chronographs, you might think of the Datograph and another one... that surprisingly (or not...) comes from Patek Philippe: the 5170G. And here is why the Patek Philippe 5170G is such a cool watch.

The (Sometimes) Murky World of the Re-Dialed and Customized Rolex Watches! - Monochrome Watches

Day after day of starring into the same face can be boring (I’m talking about watches, of course!) What can you do when you LOVE your Rolex Oyster – but are tired of looking at the same face? Get a re-dial of course! Unless the heading on my compass is off, you either already have a Rolex (or two or three or ten) or know the Rolex Oyster by heart! You can’t deny that the legacy of the first serially produced automatic, waterproof cased watch is epic. I’ve owned about a dozen Rolex over the past 20 years and each of them was more or less a flawless everyday watch! I could dress up or down and the watch always looked right. If I was willing to commit to wearing them consistently – they lived up to their claim of Superlative time keeping! So, again, I ask: what if you want all of the features of a classic Rolex, but you’re bored to tears with starring into the same boring face day after day?

After the launch of a flagship version with skeleton movement earlier this year, it is time now for the brand to unveil the automatic versions of its sports watch. Meet the Baselworld 2018 Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic, 3-hand and Chronograph.

Most of you have probably heard about the IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVII. This is the latest incarnation of IWC's classic line of pilots’ watches with a central hour, minute, and second hand and a date function. In this presentation we are going way back in time in order to trace its bloodline, which is one of the most important in the history of horology. The Mark series of watches were created as life saving tools for aviators, designed in accordance with military specs and nowadays have reached a cult status that few wristwatches attain.

Monochrome Watch Review: Armin Strom Racing Gravity
